The program started in 2017 having been approached by Hamersley Netball Club. Hamersley netball recognised that Saturday netball is traditionally a “train once a week and play once a week” sport but had a vision to change this culture to training twice a week; one on-court session and one off-court gym session. The Warwick Workout Netball Strength and Conditioning program is now open to all clubs.
The program is run during term time with 1 x 45 minute session per week with groups of 4 to 8. Sign up to the current term here.
The model accommodates individual needs within a group setting and is based off a movement competency model. Individuals progress to the next training level only when they can demonstrate proficiency in key movement patterns, including: push, pull, landing mechanics, hip hinge, squat, single leg work, bracing. Athletes aren’t introduced to loading unless they can demonstrate good movement mechanics.
