Julian completed his practicum at Warwick Workout in 2018 under the supervision of Dr Laurence Houghton and completed his Level 1 Australian Strength & Conditioning Professional coach accreditation in the process.
Since then, Julian has been interested in research and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise, Sports and Rehabilitation Science (Honours) at Curtin University in 2019 looking at the effects of physique on change of direction speed in invasion sport athletes. Julian continues to further his knowledge and is currently undertaking a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) at Curtin University. Julian’s research is on the use of cooling to enhance endurance performance and heat acclimation. Results from this PhD study can add to the current literature on the use of cooling methods as well as inform cooling practices used by coaches, athletes and sport scientists preparing athletes to compete in events in the heat (e.g., Tokyo Olympic cycling time-trial events).
